Afrobeat Burnout

Mi Daakye Charitable Org. in collaboration with @HurricaneGH bring you AFROBEAT BURNOUT (@afrobeatburnout).

The instructor led social-distance class involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic African music which makes it feel like a dance party than a workout. The classes move between high and low-intensity dance/workout moves designed to get your heart rate up and boost cardio endurance.

This engaged workout draws on inclusion, participation, encouragement, and energy, so bring your best self and a friend to dance for charity, as 100% of proceeds will benefit the children of the Amanfro School District in Accra, Ghana.

For the Love of Quarantine Summer Social Part II

Before we go back inside, We Outside one more time!

We’re hyped to host our 2nd event of the summer on Saturday, August 28th from 2 - 8 pm.  Like our first Summer Social, this one is also in collaboration with BedVyne Brew. If you weren’t able to make the first social last month, we hope you can pull up to this one and if you came out to support us and enjoyed the vibes last time, we hope to see you again.

#BREW promises to keep all their drinks flowing, especially their infamous Ruby Red Sangria, which is great because a portion of any drink purchase will go directly to our cause. So we truly hope you’re ready to get lit.

In addition to the drinks, community and summer vibes, we’re going to have @DJStrikah, @GFlammee, and @DJShyGuy curate the perfect mix of AfroBeats, Reggae, and Hip Hop.

The event is free to attend with an RSVP, but as always, donations to our cause are always welcome by purchasing the "pay what you wish" ticket or through our website. For more about who we are and how we're hoping to make education more accessible to children in Ghana, check out our mission video below.

MpaBoa 'Sneaker' Gala - Masquerade Edition

"I am because we are." An exclusive invite to our annual marquee charitable event of the year.

The second annual MpaBoa Sneaker Gala is a celebration of authenticity, contribution, and community hosted at the Brooklyn Bank. This formal affair is dedicated to Mi Daakye's mission to turn inclusivity and expression into action and benefit. The funds raised from this gala will be dedicated to students of the Amanfro School District in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

The Gala will begin promptly @ 6:00PM EST. Guests, dressed in formal evening wear with their freshest sneakers and fashionable face masks, will be checked in accordance with NYC COVID protocols.

Following checking in, you can interact with our red carpet experience which includes being photographed by Mike Uko (and his team), but enjoy the musical stylings of a live band.

Upon arrival, you'll have the opportunity to participate in the Silent Auction by placing a bid on any of the pieces in the collection, "Time to Play". Curated by Yvena Despagne, "Time to Play'' features work by Ainsley Burrows, Quiana Parks, Pstudios, Citizins, and many more centered around the significance of play in the development of children.

For the rest of the night, enjoy catered hors d'oeuvres from Chef Ahmed Abdallah of Accra Restaurant and dance to the music of G Flamee and Premium Vibez Entertainment's DJ Strikah and DJ Shy Guy. We'll also identify the silent auction winners, acknowledge the support of Mi Daakye's donors, and announce the first annual Mi Daakye Superhero Award Recipient.

Strict Dress Code: Formal with your freshest sneakers and face mask.
